| [ redirection of work effort ] |
| Due to my efforts toward collecting additional content, the site's current design being stubbornly resistant to showing even large scale additions, and my burgeoning desire to solve the problems with design that I have had for some time, I've decided to begin developing a subtly but importantly new interface for the site. A simpler, more natural design, and a better organization and display of resources will be the result, but so will a pause in collection development. I will be making what is available in sci.STREEM.info accessible but nothing new will be added pending the completed redesign. |

| Added several useful engineering links. In the course of adding these, a few of the URLs brought to my attention the restraints of using XML. It's very strict concerning characters [in this case, I had to fix ampersands within dynamic HTML links]. But it's still a very useful tool. As for my thoughts on redesign, I've been think that it may be more useful to provide access to each subsection [e.g. chemistry as opposed to science] as a single page instead of showing a long list of of subsection and links. There would be more room for descriptions and show organization better. It would also allow users to focus only on their own topic. However, the last redesign was quite recent and extensive. I will delay actual redesign until much later and only proceed on theoretical redesign planning. |
