www.STREEM.info is primarily a collection of links to current web-based reference sources organized in a clear way. There is an abundance of this type of site currently but www.STREEM.info sets itself apart in a few important ways.
- Focus on reference sources. The phrase reference source is used a lot and often in innapropriate ways. The true librarian use of the term covers simply those items not to be removed from the building but the materials put into this kind of collection tend to follow a certain style. These works are usually are usually in the form of a collection of almost raw facts organized in well-indexed way, alphabetically, subject-wise or otherwise. This is the kind of site or page www.STREEM.info will link to, categorize and describe.
- Simple organization. Much consideration has been put into deciding on the various levels of categorization so that resources are easily accessible and the collection is sufficiently balanced.
- Use of current technologies. Use of scripting and design technologies can be found where appropriate, but the largest portion of the site is organized and stored in XML format, the future technology for data storage and mark-up.
- Aesthetically pleasing design. Colour scheme and layout attempts to make the site both easy and interesting to the eye. Although not uncommon in other sources, design is given a higher weight.
- The human touch. Many link collections are compiled automatically with the use of bots. The site collected here entirely are discovered, selected, categorized, and described by hand.

- biz.STREEM.info :: Resources that relate to the concept of trade and money, whether it is the act or object itself or information about either.
- hum.STREEM.info :: Resources concerning studies or pursuits of specifically human acts and interests.
- sci.STREEM.info :: Resources related to rational study and analysis of aspects of nature, including the technological applications of which.
These main categories are broken down further into specific subcategories, describing academic field or specific topic, the number of links collected for which is enough to warrant it's own category. These subcategories are then broken down further into specific resource type : news, articles, dictionaries, biographies, directories, and search engines and link collections.
